On 12 April 2025, the Richmond community came alive with music, joy, and heartfelt performances during our “Celebrating Voices Students’ Showcase” at the Richmond Theatrette. This uplifting event was more than just a performance—it was a meaningful celebration of growth, confidence, and the shared joy of singing together.
A Journey of Vocal Growth and Expression
Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching and coaching a passionate group of voice students of various ages and backgrounds. For some, this was their very first time performing on stage—a huge milestone that was met with courage and determination. For others, it was an opportunity to refine their craft and build on their stage experience.
What made each performance so special was how every student brought their own personality to the stage. Whether they’ve been training for a while to master their technique or are just beginning their performing journey, every singer had a story to tell—and I couldn’t be prouder to see them express that through music. Watching them grow into themselves as vocalists and performers has been nothing short of inspiring.
A Showcase of Diverse Musical Styles
The program featured a rich variety of musical genres—from the dramatic flair of Musical Theatre of Les Misérables, to the catchy rhythms of Pop Music “Oscar Winning Tears” by Raye, and a collection of students’ all-time favourite songs. This diverse selection not only showcased their versatility but also allowed each performer to express themselves in singing through the music they love. It was a testament to how voice training is both technical and emotional.
Confidence and Connection at the Heart
What made the afternoon truly special was the focus on celebrating each student’s growing confidence. Taking the stage and sharing your voice takes real bravery, and every student showed how much they’ve grown—not only in skill, but in self-belief. It was a powerful reminder that music education is just as much about inner transformation as it is about vocal technique.
Honouring Culture and Creativity
We were also honoured to welcome emerging Australian-Filipino artists as special guests. Their presence added a meaningful layer of cultural connection and creativity, celebrating our musical roots and inspiring students through their artistry. It was a beautiful reminder of music’s role in heritage and in bridging generations within our diverse community.
A Warm and Supportive Community
Perhaps the most memorable part of the event was the incredible sense of community that filled the venue that was held at Richmond Theatrette at the City of Yarra Council. Families, friends, and neighbours came together to support every performer, creating a family-friendly, encouraging atmosphere. From heartfelt cheers to proud, quiet smiles, the support in the room was palpable.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Singers
This showcase perfectly reflected everything I believe in as a voice coach: that every voice is unique and beautiful, and that with the right guidance, anyone can find confidence and grow into their own sound and style.
It was also a wonderful way to introduce new students enrolled this term to the experience of performing and growing under the Nhess Weber Music coaching program. They now have a clear picture of what’s possible—learning to sing with confidence, master their technique, and transform their voice into a powerful instrument.
With Gratitude
I am so proud of each and every one of my students. The feedback from the audience was overwhelming—in the best possible way. Many shared how impressed they were by the calibre of talent that was presented. Their responses were a touching affirmation of the hard work, dedication, and progress my students have shown—and a reflection of the coaching, encouragement, and love that I strive to offer each one of them.
Here’s to more music, more growth, and more beautiful moments like these in our Richmond local community!
With gratitude,
Nhessica Weber
