How Good and Pleasant It Is: A Day of Praise and Worship in Melbourne, Australia
Inspired by Psalm 133:1
By Nhessica Weber
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1
In the heart of Melbourne, a wave of unity, worship, and Filipino-Australian joy gathered for A Day of Praise and Worship, hosted by the grassroots collective Women of Ophir — including myself, Nhessica Weber, along with Luz Foxwell and Pebbles Dela Cruz. Together, we brought a vibrant community of Christians to experience something truly special: the beauty of Praise and Worship in unity.
As a Praise and Worship Leader and part of the Creative Team, I had the privilege of collaborating with passionate musicians and creative church leaders, including musical directors from Transform Church Melbourne and Jesus Is Lord Church Victoria. Together, we led our kababayans into an atmosphere of joyful praise, where voices rose in both English and Tagalog, celebrating not only our faith but also our shared culture.
A Celebration of Unity, Music, and Purpose
The event welcomed people from all walks of life — families, friends, believers, and even those still seeking. Our goal was simple yet powerful: to create a space where the Spirit of God could move freely through music, sharing testimony, and prayer.
The atmosphere will be alive with joyful expression — not only through song, but also through dances with tambourines, offered as an act of gratitude to the One who deserves it all. The sound of praise soared even higher with the presence of a unified choir, blending voices in harmony to lift up the name of Jesus.
We are blessed to be joined by talented local worship leaders and Filipino-Australian artists, all committed to using their gifts for God’s glory. Each song — whether a gentle melody or a roaring declaration — reflects hearts full of gratitude and a passion for authentic worship.
Additionally, in a celebration of our culture, we will be wearing traditional Filipino outfits, sponsored by Lillian Bermudez and Filipiñana Avenue that represent our cultural heritage.
We also extend a warm welcome to those curious or new to this kind of worship, inviting them to experience the unforgettable Pinoy joy of praise — where culture, faith, and celebration come together.
Testimonies That Will Touch Lives
As we prepare for this powerful gathering, we know that music is only part of the experience. What truly transforms hearts are the stories — testimonies of God’s healing, His faithfulness, and the unshakable light and hope Jesus continues to bring into our lives.
This upcoming event is more than just a concert or celebration — it’s a space where spirituality takes centre stage. In our community, faith isn’t just a tradition — it’s how we thrive.
We look forward to hearing voices not just lifted in song, but in bold testimony — sharing how God is moving today. These moments remind us that worship isn’t just something we do — it’s a way of life rooted in faith, trust, and community.
A Unified and Multicultural Community
This isn’t just a one-time event. It’s a movement — a seed of revival planted in our city. Together with churches like Transform Church Melbourne, Jesus Is Lord Church Melbourne, CrossCulture Church, Connect City Church, Kiko Choir, and many more, we demonstrate that collaboration in the body of Christ is not only possible — it’s powerful and beautiful.
We’re especially honoured to have the Kiko Choir, known for bringing heavenly melodies from St. Francis Church, joining us in this celebration. Their harmonious voices will surely lift the atmosphere as they sing classic, uplifting Tagalog and other cultural songs of faith.
And in the true spirit of unity, we’ve welcomed people of all ethnicities and backgrounds to join us. This day isn’t just for one community — it’s a beautiful reflection of multicultural harmony, showing how diverse cultures can come together as one body in Christ.
Looking Ahead
As a group of women, A Worship Leader, I am humbled and honoured to be part of this incredible move of God. The response we’ve seen proves that the Filipino-Australian Christian community has a powerful voice — not just in song, but in testimony, service, and love.
Our prayer is that this day is only the beginning. May more hearts be stirred. May more voices rise in unity. And may our city continue to witness the goodness and pleasantness of God’s people coming together in praise and worship.
